Whilst the greys are sombre colours that lend themselves to sympathy cards, they can still make something beautiful.
I’ve worked with four shades today, this sample uses the warmer Gray Granite and Pebbled Path. You can see the difference in the look with cool shades Basic Grey and Smoky Slate below.
I chose to work with the Layers of Beauty decorative masks.
The large image was die cut and added to complementary card bases and layered panels. The bright white was knocked back with the residual ink on my blending brush.
The sentiment was cut with a die or punch with a touch of ribbon behind and finished with some grey pearls.
I’ve been experimenting with variations of the Joseph’s Coat technique.
For this one, I used pinks and purples to colour the some Basic White cardstock.
The flowers from the Labelled with Love stamp set wre used to stamp over the background with versamark ink. These were then heat embossed with clear powder.
Berry Burst ink was added over the top of the embossing allowing the background colours to show through.
You can see how I made this card in my video tutorial…
This version is more traditional, in that it uses black ink to create the resist. The background was coloured with subtles inks.
And for these….
I used the brights inks with the butterflies, and added Night of Navy.
For something completely different, I went for an ombre background of Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock!

So here it is, the first Christmas card of 2024. This one is very simple though, using some festive colours with the layout.
I used the Perennial Postage dies to cut a panel, which I blended with some Poppy Parade ink. I probably should have added more than I did… It looks a bit pink!

Layers of Basic White and Gold Foil were added before wrapping some metallic trim. The panel was then added to Shaded Spruce card base.
I used the online exclusive Greetings of the Season stamp set to create the sentiment, which I cut out with the Modern Oval punch.
This version uses Bubble Bath, Soft Seafoam and Smoky Slate which turned out much prettier, in my opinion.

I am working with the Sketched Plaid background stamp to make my project today.
I used a dark ink for the stamping, and added extra lines with a Stampin’ Blend marker.
The panel was layered onto matching cardstock.
Some twine was added before adhering to the card base.
The sentiment was stamped to match the card base and die cut using the Everyday Details die. This was added to a larger die cut, and adhered to the card with dimensionals.
This version uses Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy and Wild Wheat!
I love making my own backgrounds, and today I’m adding dimension too!
I’m working with Boho Blue and Shy Shamrock, In Colours from both collections – they worked together better than I thought they would!
You can see how I made this card in my video tutorial….
The small image from the Layers of Beauty stamp set was was stamped, coloured and die cut…. I used 12 in the end…. Then added them to the card panel with dimensionals.
Punched pieces were layered together to create the sentiment feature and embellished with Bordered Ribbon and Iridescent Pearls.
Here’s another version using Pretty in Pink, Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock!
